Date: 01-Sep-2016

Raymarine’s innovative new AX8 marine thermal monitoring system gives skippers a completely new and safer way to keep an eye on their vessel’s engine room and mechanical systems. Raymarine’s innovative new AX8 marine thermal monitoring system gives skippers a completely new and safer way to keep an eye on their vessel’s engine room and mechanical systems.

Combining thermal and visible cameras in a small, affordable package, the AX8 keeps a watchful eye on such critical equipment as engines, exhaust manifolds and shaft bearings. By displaying both visual and thermal images on the boat’s MFD(s), the AX8 helps skippers spot problems before they lead to breakdowns or potentially costly repairs.

The clever AX8 also features programmable alarms for detecting temperature anomalies that can indicate potential fire hazards, water leaks or damaged hoses.

Using Raymarine’s exclusive MSX® technology, the AX8 allows skippers to add edges, text and other visible imagery to the thermal pictures, making it even easier for skippers to interpret what they see.

The new AX8 will work with any Raymarine MFD running the latest version (Release 15) of the popular LightHouse II operating system, which is now available to download free from raymarine.com.

Lighthouse II Release 15 also features the ability for owners to wirelessly update their Raymarine MFD, autopilot, sonar, instrument and radar software through WiFi as well as new Collision Avoidance Tools that are great for identifying and tracking multiple AIS targets in crowded waterways.
