Showing sea floor ‘like it is’ wins AXIOM prestigious boat show Innovation Award

Date: 14-Jul-2017

Raymarine’s ground-breaking AXIOM RealVision 3D Sonar has won the prestigious New Zealand Boat Show Most Innovative International Product Award at the 2017 Hutchwilco New Zealand Boat Show in Auckland.

In choosing AXIOM as the winner of the coveted award the judging panel, headed by respected long time marine magazine editor Barry Thompson, was full of praise for the innovative “all-in-one” fish-finding system.

“The Raymarine AXIOM RealVision combines new 3D Sonar technology with Raymarine’s CHIRP DownVision and CHIRP SideVision, and a unique gyro stabilization system, to deliver astonishingly accurate images of the seabed, underwater structures and fish,” they said.

The panel was also highly impressed by the way Raymarine AXIOM RealVision overcame the main drawback of traditional sounders and fish-finding systems: the fact that theyare hugely affected by surface conditions. As the boat moves up and down on the waves, the bobbing transducer makes the sea bottom look “hilly” when actually it is dead flat.

“In contrast,” they said, “the AXIOM’s gyro stabilized 4-in-1 transducer nullifies the effects of wave action, eliminates those false readings and shows the sea floor exactly as it is!”

Mark Milburn, CEO of New Zealand Raymarine distributor, Lusty and Blundell says the new AXIOM RealVision 3D Sonar has proved incredibly popular since its launch here earlier this year.

“Fishers are absolutely loving the incredible life-like sonar images and almost unbelievable fish targeting they are getting from the AXIOM RealVision’s unique four-in-one transducer,” he says. “With CHIRP DownVision, CHIRP SideVision, High Frequency CHIRP and RealVision 3D in a single transducer housing — and the Wide Spectrum CHIRP sonartransmitting on 60 different frequencies — they are enjoying astonishingly clear and accurate images showing exactly what is beneath their boat.”

Mark Milburn says boaties are also enjoying how easy the AXIOM RealVision 3D Sonar is to use.

“With Raymarine’s highly acclaimed new LightHouse 3 operating system and the industry’s latest and most powerful quad processing platform, the AXIOM RealVision is not only lightning quick, it is also super-easy to master.”

AXIOM RealVision comes complete with WiFi connectivity, giving instant access to Raymarine apps, feature updates and on demand weather. There is also an USB port for external drives or remote card readers — and to provide handy charging for smartphones or tablets. AXIOM RealVision supports Miracast, too, enabling wireless repeating images to generic Miracast devices and TVs.

“Perhaps best of all, Raymarine’s exciting new AXIOM RealVision 3D Sonar is also incredibly good value for money,” says Mark Milburn. “With both the innovative gyro-stabilized transducer and detailed NZ charts included in the packages, the 7-inch display sells for around $2500 and the top-of the line 9” display is only around $3400.”

Both models are now available nationwide through Lusty and Blundell’s network of leading marine dealers.
