Raymarine’s new Cyclone radar wins coveted Good Design® Award

Date: 03-Feb-2022

Raymarine’s revolutionary new Cyclone Open Array Radar series has won a prestigious Good Design® Award in the Research and Technology category in the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and Metropolitan Arts Press Ltd Good Design Awards.

Founded in 1950, the Good Design® Awards are widely acknowledged as the world’s most prestigious, recognised, and oldest design awards program.

Winning the coveted award comes shortly after the new Cyclone radars were also recognised by the Dame Design Award jury in the Marine Electronics and Marine- related Software category at last year’s METSTRADE exhibition.

Launched last October, Raymarine’s Cyclone open array radars feature solid-state CHIRP pulse compression and were created to give mariners the confidence to tackle the harshest conditions, safely navigate busy waterways and successfully hunt for trophy fish.

Mark Milburn, managing director of Raymarine’s New Zealand distributor, Lusty & Blundell Ltd, says the awards recognise the revolutionary advances incorporated into the Cyclone radar range.

“The Cyclone range was designed to break the conventions of traditional radars by incorporating significantly enhanced next-generation technology.

“Raymarine challenged themselves to create a radar that combines both beauty and high performance and these prestigious awards show that they have met this challenge ¾ and created a truly ground-breaking design with exceptional efficiency and unmatched radar imagery.”

The new Cyclone radars are available in 3-, 4- and 6ft arrays and in two high-power output options for each size. All integrate seamlessly with Raymarine Axiom, Axiom+, Axiom Pro, and Axiom XL chartplotter multifunction displays and are backed by Raymarine’s industry-leading three-year warranty.

Raymarine’s award-winning, stylish and powerful Cyclone open-array CHIRP radars are now available through Lusty and Blundell’s Albany, Whangarei and Tauranga showrooms and from their nationwide network of leading marine dealers.
