FLIR’s Ocean Scout Pro wins prestigious DAME Award
FLIR’s popular handheld thermal imaging camera, Ocean Scout Pro, has won the fiercely-contested Personal Equipment category at the 2025 DAME Design Awards.
Held annually at Metstrade in Amsterdam, the DAME Design Awards celebrate excellence in marine equipment design, innovation and functionality.
Representing the next generation of FLIR’s handheld monocular thermal cameras, the Ocean Scout Pro delivers performance previously reserved for high-end fixed systems at a fraction of the cost. Compact and rugged, it enables boaters to quickly and easily detect vessels, obstacles and wildlife in challenging conditions and even in complete darkness. With its wireless streaming to mobile devices, Ocean Scout Pro makes it easy to share information and co-ordinate with crew in real-time, while its ergonomic design ensures comfort and ease of use even in the most demanding of marine environments.
Praising Ocean Scout Pro as “a brilliantly designed iteration that takes FLIR’s handheld range to the next level,” the DAME jury also noted the thermal camera’s ability “to deliver premium performance in a neat, portable unit, enhancing safety and situational awareness for all on board”.
