FLIR’s new multi-spectral M460 & M560 cameras set to revolutionise thermal imaging
Initially designed for professional marine applications such as first responders, commercial vessels and superyachts, the new M460 and M560 are complete marine-imaging systems, combining a high-performance thermal sensor with a 4K, low-light visible camera, an optional 12KM ITAR-free laser rangefinder and a long-range, tight-beam, LED laser spotlight.
The innovative new M460 and M560 cameras also feature advanced FLIR AI Target Tracking that goes far beyond traditional systems. Using an onboard neural network, the cameras keep a watchful eye on the open water and automatically identify and classify common marine objects – vessels, buoys and people. Once selected, the camera intelligently tracks the target using dynamic pan and tilt control, maintaining precision even in rough seas, crowded waterways and even during high-speed manoeuvres.
Featuring the industry’s first three-axis gyro stabilisation system, the M460 and M560 automatically compensate for pitch, roll and yaw, ensuring smooth, distraction-free imagery and exceptional long-range image quality. This advanced technology also enhances the accuracy of AI-powered target acquisition, even in the most challenging of sea states.
The M460 uses a high-sensitivity, long-wave infrared (IR) thermal sensor to deliver best-in-class thermal image quality along with improved contrast, spatial filtering and image sharpening. Its thermal sensor is also equipped with a 5x optical and 4x digital zoom lens for early detection of distant targets.
The M560 uses a high-sensitivity, mid-wave IR thermal sensor and 14x optical and 8x digital zoom lens to further enhance detection capabilities and image quality, and to deliver long-range performance.
Both new multi-spectral cameras also offer Colour Thermal Vision (CTV), combining the colour visual elements from the visible camera to enhance and provide context to the thermal scene. This means navigation marks appear in their natural red and green, while vessels and shoreline features are easier to identify thanks to colour overlays. At the same time, the visible camera provides a high resolution image with 20x optical and 12x digital zoom and dynamic 3-axis stabilisation for unrivalled, practical performance.
The M460 and M560 also both feature an integrated tight-beam laser spotlight able to illuminate objects up to 1km away with minimal light scatter and further enhance the 4K camera’s performance. Optionally, each model is available with a pre-installed ITAR-free laser rangefinder designed to accurately measure target distance at long range (up to 6.5 nautical miles) and in less-than-ideal visibility conditions.
Both the M460 and M560 multi-spectral cameras are available now through the company’s nationwide network of leading marine dealers and at their three showrooms in Albany, Whangarei and Tauranga.
