Exciting Evolution TrackIQ takes autopilots to new level

Date: 01-Nov-2016

The new R4 update to Raymarine’s award-winning Evolution Autopilots delivers new levels of accuracy and response, making steering to a destination even easier, faster, and more efficient.

Thanks to the addition of new, patented algorithms and Raymarine’s new Evolution TrackIQ™ technology, the Evolution’s clever 9-axis EV sensor core is able to measure true wind strength and direction even more accurately — and respond faster to changes in vessel motion or sea conditions.

Ideal for both sail and powered vessels and with best-in-class steer to GPS waypoint tracking, the upgrade will be especially useful for yacht owners.

“Modern high performance yachts (both cruising and racing) are travelling faster, often experiencing rapid changes to their apparent wind angles,” says Mark Milburn, CEO of New Zealand Raymarine distributor Lusty and Blundell Ltd. “Because the Evolution’s unique 9-axis EV sensor core is now able to dramatically increase its true wind resolution, it can respond even faster and more accurately to changes in wind and sea state.

“This means better sailing efficiency, especially for those racing shorthanded and far safer sailing, especially downwind where the risk of an involuntary gybe is dramatically reduced.

“Another benefit is faster, more accurate tacking through the wind, accurately mirroring the wind angle on the opposite tack.”

Combining advanced aerospace guidance technology with Raymarine’s vast marine autopilot expertise, Evolution autopilots are incredibly easy to install and to use. Evolution requires just 30 seconds to set up and there is no need for any troublesome or time-consuming tasks such as compass swing and auto-learn calibration! Nor is there any need to adjust the Evolution’s performance to suit the type or size of the vessel.

Built to IPX6 and IPX7 waterproofing and submersion standards (and immune to magnetic interference), Evolution can literally be installed anywhere on board: above or below the waterline; and will work with any existing network infrastructure.

Using solid state technology with 9-axis stabilisation to deliver dynamic accuracy (to within 2 degrees in all conditions!), Evolution boasts incredible performance. It delivers smoother, more progressive turn-in, assured performance at all speeds for all hull types and automatic optimal boat response in all sea states and weather conditions. Evolution allows the skipper to choose between comfort, economy or accuracy modes and gets better over time, continually learning more about the vessel’s manoeuvring characteristics.
