Raymarine helps to target the fish in TV1’s exciting new Fishing & Adventure series

Date: 08-Dec-2016

Raymarine technology will be a key component in the success of the new series of popular TV show, Fishing and Adventure.

The show, which stars Scott Parry and Michael "Mig" Rumney, will be broadcast in conjunction with Hirepool and screen on Saturday afternoons on TV1. The first show of the new 13-episode half-hour series is scheduled to go to air in mid-April.

Scott Parry says a feature of the new series will be the targeting of fish in a number of new areas around the country.

"This will be very exciting," he says. "We will be in unfamiliar waters and finding the fish we want will be challenging.

"Luckily, we will have some pretty powerful assistance: a very sophisticated line-up of the very latest Raymarine electronics."

Scott says the pair has been using Raymarine gear on their boats for the last three years.

"We absolutely swear by it," he says. "When filming a television series you can't just keep going back to your tried and tested spots so we rely heavily on Raymarine’s fantastic fish finding technology to get us onto TV-worthy fish all over the country.

"Since we started using Raymarine electronics, the quality of the fish we have caught has increased dramatically and we can now confidently target any species, anywhere."

Scott & Mig’s Raymarine fish-finding system includes a large screen eS128 multi-function display complete with CHIRP DownVision Sonar and Navionics Platinum fishing charts, connected to a CP470 Clearpulse CHIRP 2 kW module, a CPT100 TM transducer and a transom-mounted 275 1kW CHIRP wide beam transducer.

This powerful package also links to a Raymarine a97 WiFi display mounted outside of the cabin — enabling both the hosts and the show’s viewers to keep an eye on what is happening under the boat.

Scott says it is obviously vital that he, Mig and their camera crew are able to get safely to and from their often remote fishing spots on their Honda-powered Surtees 750.

"This is the another reason we swear by Raymarine electronics," he says. "The new Raymarine RD418 18in 4kW HD colour radar, Raymarine Evolution autopilot and the latest Raymarine thermal night vision camera allow us to navigate some of New Zealand’s trickiest harbours and coastlines with ease and confidence."

Scott says another benefit of having Lusty & Blundell, Raymarine’s New Zealand distributors, supporting the show is that their boat is now kitted out with LED lighting, including the latest Bluefin underwater lights, "which attract baitfish from far and wide."

In additional to Hirepool, Surtees, Honda and Raymarine, the new series will also be supported by Okuma, Black Magic, Top Catch and Albany Toyota.
